Where To Stay

Hotels in Sri Lanka each have their unique ambience and culture which is relative to the location. For instance, hotels down the coast have a more laidback atmosphere while hotels in the hill country will offer a more regal setting.

You may like exploring the rustic but if you certainly don’t fancy living like one there are quite a number of high end hotels that will suit your preference. The City of Colombo Hotels are known for their world class service and amenities. Along the coast high end hotels are less frequent, however with a little bit of inquiry you can be settled in like a Maharaja into some of the finest hotels along the coastal belt.

Most budget accommodations offer courteous service and a minimum of basic amenities such as hot/cold shower, attached bathroom, pillows, mosquito net (if not A/C).

In the lap of luxury- 5 Star

Sri Lanka’s 5 star hotels are none the second to international standard ones. Rooms are fully air-conditioned; have attached bath/shower with cold/hot water, mini fridge and 24-hr room service. You will be personally greeted on arrival with welcome drink and the customary greeting of Ayubowan.

First class- 4 star

4 Star hotels around the country offer comfortable rooms with basic amenities. Reception is opened 18 hours and is accessible by phone 24 hours from inside and outside.

3 star hotel facilities and amenities

3 star hotels provide good room and courteous and efficient service. Also basic amenities such as hot water showers are provided. Most have credit card facilities for making payments.

Historic flair

Some of Sri Lankan hotels maintain a grand history, If you head to locations like Mount Lavinia, Galle Face, Fort, Galle and Kandy you will see that the architectural grandeur is mainly colonial. Stepping into these hotels is like stepping back in time but staying in these rooms is an experience on its own.

Ayurvedic Resorts and Hotels

The lodging, food and activities are designed with wellness in mind. They offer treatments for various illnesses or to relieve stress through massages and other treatments as well as diet. Most guest do leave here having been rewarded with piece of mind, body and soul.

Rest houses and Inns

If you don’t care much about ambience, amenities and buffet and just want a place to stay for the night to refresh yourself then these are made for budget travelers who want to do more for less. Most have comfortable rooms with mosquito nets, fans and attached bathrooms.

Bungalows

These have been originally homes of a class of a once privileged and important class of people. These bear the charm of colonial architecture. Most are restored with integrity to the original setting. Rooms are comfortable and provide a vintage ambience. Bungalows can range from semi luxury to luxury.

Boutique Hotels

Boutique hotels are a fusion of ancient and avant-garde. Standing monuments of impressive feats of modern architecture, they don’t come cheap but are fully worth the fuss.

Anuradhapura

What they say:

私は素敵な旅行のために、もう一度あなたに感謝したいと思います。グループの誰もが両方のスタッフと旅程で、幸せでした。素晴らしい仕事。

Ichirō Tsukada – Akiruno-shi, Tokyo 197-0833 Japan

We have just arrived back in Kyiv after the most incredible holiday in Sri Lanka. It has been a tour of a lifetime arranged by Maldiviana Holidays. The 6 days we spent truly added so much to our experience. Our only sadness is that we were not able to spend more time

Kateryna Berezhnaya – m. Kyiv, 03110 Ukraine

My family have asked me to thank you once again for our wonderful tour of Sri Lanka. You looked after us so nicely & we saw more than we had expected. Historical places were totally magnificent, to finish with that relaxing beach holiday, but so much more besides.

Blažek Ivánek – Praha 4, 14000 Czech Republic

We spent 2 weeks in Sri Lanka & Maldives, in the capable hands of Maldiviana. Everything worked without a hitch. Excellent experience and I can’t say enough about guides. They were knowledgeable, but more importantly, they understood our expectations every time.
